Brian D. Hommel

From guiding clients through residential transactions, to litigation over complex title issues, Brian D. Hommel has the knowledge and skills to help with your real estate matter.

Brian takes great pride in working with clients to discover creative solutions to meet the needs unique to each matter. He understands that for most clients, investment in real property is one of the biggest investments they will make. Understanding that significance, Brian makes himself available to his clients every step along the way.

Brian assists with commercial and residential real property transactions and leases, with the goal of explaining options and the impact of certain provisions so that his clients can make informed decisions. Brian has helped numerous parties and co-owners negotiate and settle highly contentious disputes, and when issues cannot be resolved amicably, Brian has gained the reputation as a calm, intelligent and trusted litigator willing to fight and protect his clients’ real property interests.

Whether it be eviction matters, property line disputes, quiet title actions, or breach of contract claims, attorney Brian D. Hommel has a proven track record of obtaining results for his clients.

In law school, Brian was blessed to receive the Governor's Scholar Award and support from his friends and family while he attended law school. Through his time at the University of Wayne State Law School, Brian uncovered his love of real estate law. He volunteered his time at a local law firm speaking with victims of the Flint Water Crisis

He worked at the Fair Housing Center of Metropolitan Detroit alongside civil rights warriors fighting for equal housing protections and gained invaluable experience dealing with the Michigan Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, Fair Housing Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act. Through Wayne State’s Legal Advocacy for People with Cancer Clinic, Brian was able to combine two of his passions: (1) helping individuals battling cancer, and (2) assisting individuals with their legal matters including property issues.  In his final years of law school, Brian worked as a law clerk focusing on property and estate planning matters.

After sitting for and passing the Michigan State Bar Exam, Brian began working as an associate attorney alongside T. Scott Galloway, where he gained invaluable insights and experience while focusing on real property matters.

In the summer of 2024, Brian and T. Scott Galloway embarked on a new adventure, employing their experience and passion for real estate law to open Galloway & Hommel, LLP.  As a partner of a boutique law firm, Brian aims to provide top-tier legal services to his clients with the highest level of attention and involvement.

Brian is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the State Bar’s Real Property Section, and the Oakland County Bar Association Real Estate Committee.  He participates as a member of the Incorporated Society of Irish American Lawyers and is active in local chambers of commerce.

Outside of work, Brian loves spending time with his beautiful wife, two children, family and friends. He enjoys most sports (particularly football and volleyball), street festivals, being outdoors, yard work and games. He likes puzzles, riddles, scavenger hunts and escape rooms. He is an animal lover and enjoys volunteering his time to help others.
